Barnet Council launched its Suicide Prevention Strategy 2026-30 at an event to mark World Mental Health Day at The Meritage Centre, in Hendon, on Friday (10 October 2025).

Councillor Alison Moore, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health, and Chair of Barnet Health and Wellbeing Board, was among the speakers at the well-attended event at which the theme was ‘access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies’.

David Pinto-Duschinsky, MP for Hendon, welcomed everyone on the day followed by a series of presentations including from the NHS about its 10-year plan. Barnet Wellbeing Service and Andy’s Man Club were also among the organisations to provide information about their activities. There was an opportunity for all those present to take part in chair yoga.

For more information about all of the support on offer, please call Barnet Wellbeing Service on 03333 449088 or visit www.barnetwellbeing.org.uk. You can also view the Barnet Suicide Prevention Strategy 2026-30 on the council’s website.
