This October, Barnet residents are invited to join Stoptober and take the first step towards a smoke-free future.

For many people, quitting smoking can feel difficult, but you do not have to do it alone. That's the message behind this year's Stoptober campaign - Let's Quit Smoking Together. Whether you're making your first quit attempt or trying again after a setback, support is available to help you succeed.

Stopping smoking for 28 days makes you five times more likely to quit for good. Every smoke-free day you complete is a step in the right direction, and every quit attempt brings you closer to success.

For those of you that would like to find out more information in person, there are will be a series of events happening at your local libraries throughout the entire month of Stoptober. Pop-by and have a chat with one of our friendly advisors who will be able to offer advice and support specifically tailored to you. Keep in mind, that to access the free services and products, you just have to live, work or study in Barnet.

If you would like to read more about the experiences of others who have quit and how they managed to do it, our library service have recommended some books that might also help. The reading list can be found here: Stoptober reading suggestions | Barnet Council

Whether you're quitting for your health, your family, your finances or simply for yourself, now is the perfect time to get started.
