Summer events promote childhood vaccinations
On Friday 11th July, Barnet Council’s Public Health Team and The Practice at 188 stopped by Claremont Park for a stop on their vaccination roadshow. The event was part of the park’s annual Summer Festival. The team’s main goal was to engage with parents and carers about the vital role vaccinations play for children aged 0 to 5.
The roadshow is part of a wider collaboration between Barnet Council’s Public Health Prevention team and The Practice at 188 aimed at tackling low vaccination rates in Golders Green, North Finchley and Brent Cross areas.
The festival was a vibrant celebration with local schools coming together for a day packed with fun, entertainment and food. A special highlight was the celebration of Whitefield Secondary School’s 70th anniversary and its exciting rebrand as Clarion School.
The team were delighted to have had so many interesting conversations with parents, answering questions around topics such as HPV and flu vaccines, as well as sharing information on how to book vaccine appointments with the GP. Despite the heat, the event was a real hit and showed just how impactful local health initiatives can be.
If you missed us at the Summer Festival the next stop on our roadshow is Childs Hill Park on Tuesday 19th August (10.30am – 2.30pm) for the Family Park Day, where our team will be ready once again to share useful vaccination information and offer some fun surprises for little ones.
