Running strong and staying healthy: Barnet GP 188 at the Maccabi Fun Run
With the sun shining and spirits high, the team at Practice 188 in Golders Green attended this year’s Maccabi Community Fun Run. But they weren’t there for fun and fitness, the team were there to talk with parents and carers about the importance of vaccinations for 0–5-year-olds.
The initiative is part of a wider collaboration between Barnet Council’s Public Health Prevention team and Practice 188 aimed at tackling low vaccination rates in the Golders Green, North Finchley and Brent Cross areas.
With hundreds of families attending the event, it was the perfect opportunity to connect with the local community, making it a great place to raise awareness and spark conversations with residents and around this key health topic.
The Practice 188 team handed out 100 tote bags containing helpful vaccine information and a free small toy for the little ones was given out. Practice 188 nurses engaged in many positive in-depth conversations with families, answering questions and helping parents feel more informed and confident about childhood vaccinations.
It was a day full of energy, learning and community spirit! The event was a great success and shows a brilliant opportunity to promote health within the local community!
