Child’s Hill Park Family Fun Park Day: where fun met vaccine awareness
Last week, Barnet Council’s Public Health Team and The Practice @ 188 made their way to Child’s Hill Park for their next stop on the vaccination roadshow.
This time, the event was part of a series of Family Fun Park Days, hosted throughout the summer by Barnet’s BACE Early Help Team. The team’s aim of the day was to chat with parents and carers about the importance of vaccinations for children aged up to five years old.
The vaccination roadshow is part of a wider collaboration between Barnet Council’s Public Health Prevention team and The Practice @ 188, aimed at tackling low vaccination rates in the Golders Green, North Finchley and Brent Cross areas.
With giant inflatables, sports games and challenges, as well as family-friendly yoga, there was something on offer for everyone. In between the fun activities, the team was pleased to have had so many engaging conversations with parents and carers. Conversations involved topics such as misinformation around the MMR vaccine ingredients, pre-school vaccinations and where children can receive flu vaccines, as well as sharing information on the childhood vaccination schedule. It was so positive to hear that so many children were up to date with their vaccines!
And here’s a fun fact we shared with parents: the nasal flu vaccine for children is completely needle-free! It’s a quick and painless spray that helps protect against flu.
The Park Day was another great opportunity for the team to engage with the community on an impactful health topic. The support of Councillor Barry Rawlings, Leader of Barnet Council, on the day was an added bonus!
