A sexual health and wellbeing service for young people in Barnet
With Sexual Health Awareness Week around the corner this September (15th-21st) we wanted to highlight and promote a new service that has been commissioned for young people in Barnet - The Brook Sexual Health and Wellbeing Service for Young People.
Brook is a free and confidential sexual health and wellbeing service for young people in Barnet, commissioned by Barnet Council. Our outreach and education work supports young people’s health, relationships, and personal development through workshops, one-to-one programmes, and professional training. What We Offer:
- Relationships and sex education (RSE) in schools and communities
- One-to-one early intervention sessions
- Health promotion stalls and events
- Professional training
- C-Card training and drop-ins
RSE Workshops
Our RSE sessions are inclusive, age-appropriate, and delivered by trained educators. Topics include healthy relationships, consent, contraception, online safety, and more. Sessions are interactive, creating a safe space for open discussion. We also deliver tailored workshops for ESOL and SEN groups to ensure accessibility and engagement for all.
C-Card Scheme
We deliver C-Card training to local professionals, equipping them to offer free and confidential condom distribution. Regular C-Card drop-ins in Barnet schools and colleges have been well received by both staff and students. C-Card scheme.
The My Life Programme
This six-week one-to-one programme supports young people needing extra help with topics like emotional resilience, self-esteem, and healthy relationships. Sessions are personalised and fit around school schedules. Participants consistently report feeling more confident and empowered.
