What to do in an emergency

Emergency services should be used in the following circumstances: Medical emergency or life-threatening situation (such as choking, chest pain, severe bleeding) 

Call 999 if someone is seriously ill


If someone is choking, has bad chest pain, has blacked
out or has severe blood loss, you should call 999. The
telephone operator will give you advice on what to do. They
may arrange an ambulance to assess you and take you to
hospital. A hospital Accident & Emergency department is
open 24 hours a day every day of the year. These can be
accessed without an appointment at any time in case of an
emergency.
